The U.S. Mint will begin producing a brand new $1 gold coin bearing President Trump’s face, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent introduced on X Wednesday. The brand new coin might be in commemoration of America’s 250th birthday. In his submit on X, Bessent mentioned the coin will “honor the enduring legacy of liberty and be a long-lasting image of patriotism.”

“That includes President Trump, it celebrates the energy of American values and the promise of a nation devoted to preserving freedom for all,” he added in his assertion. The coin shared by Bessent reveals a easy portrait of the president on one aspect and the insignia from the presidential seal on the opposite.

The $1 gold Trump coin is already in manufacturing and might be out there starting this fall, a spokesperson for the Treasury Division instructed CBS Information this week. It’s composed of non-precious metals, however may have a “gold-like end,” the spokesperson added.

The $1 gold Trump coin is the most recent effort by the Presidential administration to get Trump’s likeness on official US forex. Already for the America 250 celebration, Trump has gotten his signature printed on official $100 payments, that are already being circulated. Moreover, the President and his admin have pushed to make an official $250 invoice together with his face on it, though that effort stays on the fence as a result of constitutional restraints.
