El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele denied a report by El País claiming the federal government had transferred management of its state Bitcoin reserves, exceeding 7,763 BTC, to a personal operator.

Bukele’s objection is predicated on an interpretation of the wording within the Worldwide Financial Fund’s (IMF) latest assertion concerning El Salvador. In accordance with the IMF, the entity whose majority stake and operational management has been transferred to a personal operator isn’t El Salvador’s strategic Bitcoin reserves, however the government-backed Chivo pockets.

The IMF beforehand said that El Salvador had submitted paperwork displaying that all the Bitcoin it had gathered since its first Prolonged Funds Facility (EFF) evaluate on June 27, 2025, got here from non-public donations.
